Common signs of failed façade sealant
Look for cracks in the sealant, gaps between the bead and the substrate, sealant that has pulled away, staining on the façade or inside the building, and damp patches near window frames or cladding joints.
What causes façade sealant to fail?
UV exposure, temperature movement, poor initial application, the wrong sealant for the joint, and lack of proper surface preparation are the main causes. Applying new sealant over old material usually fails quickly.
How we repair façade sealant
We remove the failed material, clean the joint, prepare the surface and apply the correct sealant. On high-rise façades we use rope access, MEWPs or scaffolding to reach the work safely.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you match the existing sealant colour?
Yes. We can select sealant colours to match the existing finish where a colour match is important to the project.
